Nestled in this sun drenched valley at the foothills of the Pyrenees Orientales is the medieval village of Palalda. Overlooking the river Tech and adjoining Amelie Les Baines, a popular spa town with thermal springs offering many treatments. The views from the terraces are breathtaking, there are walkways leading down to the river and a footbridge across the river leads to the large local supermarket, a chemist, newsagent, coffee shop, beauty salon and more.

A barbeque and play area in Palalda which is also an ancient site for washing clothes, still used by some locals.
  Amelie les Bains is 1.5 km from Palalda. The local tourist
office has details of many activities and tours in the region.

Palada's local bar is a gathering place for friendly locals and tourists. The views from the rear dining area are exceptional. Many musical events are held here and one Sunday per month there is a market in the square. Food and drink served daily.

The local riding stable is a 15 minute walk away. They have pony rides for the very young and lessons or hacks for all level of riders. A hack through the hills is exhilarating and the scenery is beautiful. See their web site
           
The public swimming pool in Amelie-les-Bains  
The public swimming pool in Amelie Les Bains is 2.6km from the property. It has three pools to suit all ages and is open every day from June to September.

Palalda has a popular sports bar which serves food and drink and has panoramic views across the river Tech.  

There is also a bakery, mini-supermarket and post office, all 2 minutes walk from the accommodation. There are several picnic areas in and around the village, one was originally a site for washing clothes.

Every Sunday a market is held in the town square, which is also used for festive occasions to which all are invited.

The streets of Palalda are safe for children and animals due to its narrow walkways and inaccessibility for cars.
There is a large car park close to the apartment, 30 seconds walk away.

Walk down to the footbridge and over the river to access the large Leader supermarket (10 mins) where you will also find a Chemist, Newsagent, Cafe, Beauty Parlour and more.

Enjoy mountain biking, walking, lake swimming, tree walks, water sports.

The beaches from Canet Plage to Collioure and further are all different, Canet Plage is large and very popular
with lots of shops, restaurants and entertainment for children. Argeles sur Mer is similar. Collioure is a place of historic interest and in-between these resorts are smaller beaches for naturists or those who prefer a quieter location.

Visit Spain for duty free items, Le Perthus is well worth visiting, just on the border (about 18km from Palalda).
